Burton Railway Station

About the project

This project involves working with partners to bring about improvements to Burton Train Station and will run parallel to the forthcoming forecourt improvement works. The project will look closely at the possibilities of improving the overall aesthetics and decor of the entrance, platform and waiting area. Priority will be given to clearing the overgrown shrub area located on the platform area.

A discussion has taken place between the Secretary of State for Transport, East Staffs MP, County and Borough Councillors. The Transport Minister was shown photographs of how the station used to look, how it looks in the present day and the National Forest’s proposed designs. The Chief Executive of Network Rail has also been contacted and has suggested a contact for future meetings and discussions.

Current partners include Network Rail, East Midlands Trains, Staffordshire County Council and The National Forest. It is envisaged that a collaborative approach to the train station will support the delivery of aesthetic improvements as part of this regeneration programme.
