Light pollution

Lighting installed to provide security at people’s property or premises is not considered unreasonable and if installed correctly will produce minimal impact on the environment. However, excessive levels of luminance and glare can cause light nuisance. Simple remedies such as re-aiming or screening the light should be sufficient in resolving the problem.

Some advice on choosing an appropriate design for your lighting can be seen in the Getting Light Right leaflet.
