Well, it’s that time of year again where we all start thinking about Christmas. Over the last few weeks, the Council has been finalising plans for this year’s festivities and after a difficult year for many people, I’m sure we’ll all take time to appreciate a period of rest, recuperation and plenty of family time.
This week the Council announced an exciting line up of ‘Christmas in Burton’ events, supported by Bloor Homes and Coopers Square Shopping Centre, ahead of the 2022 festive season. The events will feature performances, shows, festive markets and a new augmented reality trail, a great opportunity to celebrate this time of year with our families.
On Friday 18th November at 5pm I’ll be joining the Mayor in Uttoxeter to see the towns lights switch on and on Sunday 27th November the Christmas lights will be turned on in Burton. There will also be a wide range of family entertainment activities, food and drink stalls and fireworks after 5pm and the Market Hall will be open, hosting a festive market alongside regular stall holders.
These festivities not only mark an important British tradition but it also brings people to our town centres, supporting shops and businesses. To help with this we have arranged to remove parking charges on all carparks on the four Saturdays before Christmas in both Burton and Uttoxeter, on the 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th December there will be no charge for parking in any ESBC owned carparks.
I hope residents take the opportunity to visit our town centres to enjoy the great range of activities this Christmas.
