With the cost of many vital utilities going up as a result of current economic conditions, I am pleased to say that East Staffordshire Borough Council is freezing cemetery fees until April 2024, with a review of fees and charges taking place in twelve months’ time.
While I understand the freezing of cemetery fees will not alleviate concerns regarding increased fuel and utility bills, I hope that it at least eases the stress of losing a loved one and the financial implications that come as a result.
During such volatile economic times it is important for the Council to evaluate any ways by which it can help reduce the financial pressures residents may currently be facing. With this in mind, the Council must continue to develop its financial support, whether that be the freezing of cemetery fees or the many business grants offered by the Council.
