Flag set to be raised for NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day

The Mayor of East Staffordshire, Councillor Patricia Ackroyd, is set to raise the flag at the first NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Flag Raising ceremony.

The flag raising ceremony, which will take place on Monday 5th July outside the Town Hall in Burton upon Trent, is part of an annual day of thanks to NHS staff and remembrance of those who lost their lives because of COVID-19.

Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines the Mayor will hoist the flag without a parade, continuing to keep residents safe from possible large gatherings which, at the moment, are not permitted.

Councillor Patricia Ackroyd, Mayor of East Staffordshire, said: “The first NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day provides an opportunity to show our gratitude to all NHS and front line staff with an annual day of thanks, and remembrance of those who lost their lives because of this dreadful disease.”
