East Staffordshire Borough Council has today announced an exciting line up of ‘Christmas in Burton’ events, supported by Bloor Homes and Coopers Square Shopping Centre, ahead of the 2022 festive season.
The events, which feature performances, shows, festive markets and a new augmented reality trail, are perfect for the whole family to enjoy.
The programme kicks off on Sunday 27th November with the return of the much-loved annual switch on, which will include a wide range of family entertainment, activities, food & drink stalls and fireworks after 5pm. The Market Hall will also be open, hosting a festive market alongside regular stall holders.
Lynette Howgate, Coopers Square Shopping Centre Manager, said: “Coopers Square is a community-oriented shopping centre with the town of Burton at its heart.
“We are delighted to support East Staffordshire Borough Council’s festive celebrations and play our part in the town to kick off the Christmas period with some cheer. Burton is already seen in the wider area as a shopping hub for many towns and villages. We have a great selection of shops in the centre to get ready for Christmas in a brilliant town centre environment.
“Events like this encourage more people to shop in Burton and boost the local economy, which can only be a great thing for the town.”
The following weekend, young families can enjoy live theatre as the children’s favourite, The Very Hungry Caterpillar comes to the Brewhouse Arts Centre with a Christmas show, from the 1st to 4th December.
Shoppers and food lovers will be able to experience a festive treat, as Burton Market Hall and Place welcomes a Christmas Craft Market on Saturday 3rd December, along with a festive Food and Drink Market on Saturday 10th December.
In the final run up to Christmas, The Brewhouse Arts Centre will host a wide range of festive theatre shows, live music and side-splitting comedy shows.
Cllr Bev Ashcroft, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Cultural Development, said: “I hope to see residents enjoying all of the amazing festive activities taking place across Burton this holiday season. Not only does this provide residents with an exciting countdown to Christmas, but it also encourages people from across the Borough and surrounding areas to get involved in Burton’s festive celebrations.”
