£100,000 Community Regeneration Fund to Improve Public Spaces Across East Staffordshire

Local groups and organisations across East Staffordshire are being encouraged to take advantage of the Community Regeneration Fund, a new 12 month long scheme to support the ongoing regeneration of the Borough.

The fund is designed to help deliver regeneration projects that help improve local areas. Some examples of the types of projects that could be funded are listed below:
•    Community gardens
•    Community woodlands
•    Public art
•    Sport and recreation spaces

The total amount of funding available through the scheme is £100,000, with successful applicants receiving grants between £1,000 - £16,000. At least 20% of the total cost of the project will need to be funded from other sources or by the applicant.

Cllr Bernard Peters, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing Standards said: “This fund offers local groups the chance to contribute to the ongoing regeneration of the Borough. I would encourage everyone to take full advantage of the available funding. I am committed to supporting East Staffordshire develop as a result of being able to access this fund.”

Local community groups, charities and social enterprises are all eligible for the scheme. Businesses that operate for profit are not generally eligible, however, if the project can clearly show public benefit then these applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis, so we urge organisations who are considering applying to submit their application as soon as they can. The scheme will run for 12 months or until the funds are fully allocated, whichever comes sooner.
