Two East Staffordshire entries are celebrating with the news they’ve reached the 2024 RHS Britain in Bloom finals. It’s a momentous occasion to have two entries from one Borough reach the finals, as Burton upon Trent and Winshill will contest the Small City and Urban categories, following a run of 25 consecutive gold medals between them at the regional Heart of England In Bloom awards.
Both entries have built a reputation for high quality floral displays and outstanding community engagement, which will now see them contest for honours against other entries from across the country.
Cllr Dennis Fletcher, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, said: “This is a thoroughly outstanding achievement to have two East Staffordshire entries in the national finals and is testimony to the amount of community projects that take place throughout the borough.”
A number of exciting projects are already under development for 2024, which will include improving Town Centre floral displays in Station St with the support of volunteers from McDonalds and increased floral displays in Winshill, which will see more sustainable planting.
Burton upon Trent and Winshill entries will be judged in August 2024.
