Benefits and Financial Support
You can find out what support you might be eligible for on the UK Government website.
Council Tax Reduction
You can apply to get money off your council tax bill if you’re on a low income or claiming benefits. You can apply for Council Tax Reduction whether you own your home, rent, are unemployed or working.
Council Tax Reduction is a reduction in your Council Tax bill based on:
- Your income
- The size of your family
- Other adults who live with you
- The amount of Council Tax you have to pay

Business Rates Relief
There are a range of business rates reliefs available for different types of business.

Energy Bills Support
All businesses have fixed energy prices until April 2023. This gives more certainty and confidence to continue operating over the autumn and winter months while the Government develops long-term solutions.
Energy prices for businesses including companies, charities and public sector organisations will be capped under the Energy Bill Relief Scheme which will cut the rates they pay by up to half this winter, with support starting from the 1 October for a six-month period.

Travel Costs
You can save money on rail journeys if you apply for a National Rail railcard.
To save money on busses you can apply for an older person’s bus pass, or you can apply for a disabled person’s bus pass.
